Engaged Buddhism is a modern movement within Buddhism that emphasizes the integration of Buddhist teachings with social and environmental action. It originated in Asia in the mid-twentieth century and has since spread throughout the world. Engaged Buddhists believe that spiritual practice and social and environmental action are deeply interconnected and that Buddhist principles and practices can be applied to address social and environmental issues. Engaged Buddhism seeks to alleviate suffering in the world by promoting compassion, wisdom, and interdependence. It emphasizes the importance of mindfulness, ethical conduct, and social responsibility.

"When we cultivate compassion, our actions become meaningful and bring happiness to others." - Dalai Lama

The Journey of Cultivate Meditation Academy

Cultivate Meditation Academy was founded with a mission to share the transformative power of mindfulness and meditation with others. Our founder, Ngakpa Ronn Pawo McLane, experienced firsthand the profound impact of these practices on their own life, particularly when it came to dealing with migraines, anxiety, and depression. With more than four decades of experience, they were inspired to create an accessible platform that would empower others to explore and benefit from mindfulness and meditation.

Drawing from ancient Buddhist teachings based on mindfulness and the inclusion of every being, our methods are grounded in awakened awareness. We believe that by cultivating consciousness in the present moment, we can overcome old patterns of unconscious reactions and lead more balanced, fulfilling lives.

Our Academy has evolved considerably since its inception, particularly during the pandemic. Ronn Pawo led over 300 live-streamed meditations on social media during the shutdown, and the global audience has continued to grow ever since. Alongside the popular podcast, The Backyard Buddhist, Cultivate Meditation Academy has become a vital resource for those seeking a connection to mindfulness and meditation.

Today, we are excited to continue sharing the practical benefits of these ancient modalities in the digital age. We recognize that stress, anxiety, and depression are at all-time highs, and our teachings can provide quick and positive relief to those in need. By making these practices accessible to a wider audience, we hope to contribute to the broader mindfulness and meditation community and help individuals navigate the challenges of modern life. Join us on this journey to cultivate inner peace, balance, and lasting transformation.
